Dr. Charmaine Kaimikaua has been teaching at Cypress College since 1996 in the Communication Studies and Airline Travel Careers departments. She began her airline career with Western Airlines in 1985, and after a successful merge with Delta Airlines in 1986, she continues to be an active flight attendant with a career span of 32 years. Dr. Kaimikaua has a B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies from California State University, Long Beach. In addition, she has a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco with a research concentration on the politics of cultural preservation for diaspora cultures and the impact of tourism upon indigenous cultures. She is a published international research scholar and is an active member of the Cypress College Advisory Committee since 2006.
